"I would definitely recommend The Chimney Specialists to anyone having chimney/fireplace issues! They were great! They really understand fireplaces. We’ve been having issues with our fireplace since we bought the house. I’ve had them inspected by other chimney sweeps, went to online message boards and contacted multiple experts with little success determining the problem. The folks from The Chimney Specialists came out on time, and within an hour had fully diagnosed my problem, given me several solutions with rough costs for each option and estimates of how well each would help. Additionally, from calling for an appointment to them leaving, their customer service was excellent- very happy, helpful and accommodating. These guys know their stuff. "I have had some difficulty in getting my chimney swept due to the ladder height requirements. Two other companies simply "drove by" as soon as they had seen the chimney from the street. I live in a two story house with a pre-fab fireplace and a chimney that tops out at about 34 feet. Chimney Specialists showed up in a fully equipped van with two guys, one named Kyle. I was immediately informed by Kyle that I was miss-quoted on the price because the chimney was accessible with less than a 40 foot ladder and was "pre-fab not masonry". The new price was quoted at $154 plus tax for the cleaning and inspection of the cap. If we needed a brand new cap that would be a minimum of $150(I wasn't sure we had a cap because I couldn't tell from the ground). After they inspected the chimney, Kyle explained what they found and how the intended to clean. It turns out the fireplace is in reasonably good condition, the cap was in place and sound. No repairs were recommended at this time. Within 30 minutes, they had the job done, cleaned up and provided a written inspection report. "They swept the chimney, and took off the flashing that was used to seal the chimney by the previous owner. Then they determined which chimneys were for the downstairs fireplace, upstairs fireplace, and the old furnace. And he explained to me their services they would do, including repair to the chimney top, and their reasonable fees. When I told him I was planning to do the work myself, he was very specific and extremely helpful to provide me with all the information I needed to repair the chimney to their safe and lasting standards.
I really felt that they were there for us. Even though I was passing on having them install the new damper and repair the chimney top (which would have earned them lots of money), he was extremely helpful and seemed sincerely interested in making certain that I had a good outcome whether I used them or did the work myself. "They were very polite and able to set an appointment within a week. Not knowing what I would need serviced once they were at my home I asked and received budget pricing for a variety of scenarios. On the scheduled service day, Kyle called to say they could be there earlier than scheduled if that worked for me. They arrived at the time we agreed upon and introduced themselves before explaining the steps they would take to determine the work required. As it turned out I did not need the major work I had been told I would need and my chimneys were inspected and found to be clean and functional. They did suggest minor repair on the chimney top, installed three caps (I never knew they weren't there or that they should be), cleaned the exterior of the chimney, wire brushed, and water sealed. During the test if the sealant they noticed one of the downspouts was clogged and another was running slow. They asked me if it would be OK if they cleaned them for me.
