Liners

New liners are necessary when either the chimney is unlined or the liner has cracked or is damaged. The two most common chimney liners are clay tile liners and metal flue liners. Clay tile liners are the traditional favorite and have a projected life of 50 years. Stainless steel flue liners need to have the appropriate alloy base for fuel type being burned. Freeze Thaw

Over time our chimneys endure exposure to the harsh elements here in the Seattle / Tacoma area. The freeze and thaw we experience here can cause the moisture to permeate throughout the chimney causing damage to the interior as well as the exterior. It is important to take care of such damage to prevent further water damage or vermin infestation.

Tuckpointing

Tuckpointing is the process of filling in missing, cracked or deteriorated mortar joints in the masonry. In this process the installer removes the damaged mortar with a diamond blade, then installs fresh pointing mortar into the open mortar joint by 'tucking' or pushing it in. Solid mortar joints are important for strength and keeping water from entering the chimney.
