There are two basic types of fireplaces; a masonry fireplace and factory-built fireplace. A Masonry fireplace is a classic brick or stone chimney with mortar. A factory-built fireplace is typically a lightweight metal firebox with a metal chimney. Our Methods

When our technicians arrive for chimney cleaning, the first thing we do is greet our customers and enter the home to lay our drop cloths around the fireplace, shut the damper and inspect the firebox. We then go to the roof and inspect from the roofline up and sweep the chimney down. Then we go back inside with a vacuum and a throat brush. Next we open the damper and brush out the throat and the smoke shelf, the damper housing and fireplace walls and firebox. After the chimney inspection and cleaning are complete, we pick up our equipment, write out our inspection report and go over the details of the report with our customers. The inspection and sweep process typically takes about 35 minutes; cleaning can take longer if there is an insert or if the chimney is exceptionally dirty.

Our type two chimney inspections are necessary when there has been structural damage (i.e. earthquake damage) or there has been a fire. With this type of inspection our knowledgeable technician drops a camera down the chimney to get a better look at the interior. Our video inspections are upon request and are $325.00+tax. We do work with your insurance carrier.
